Question

Locations Configuration

asked on February 12, 2019

In the Web Client configuration, I have acquired the API key for GeoCoding and the Maps Javascript and put those in the appropriate places. I am able to bring up the map and see locations and the pins for documents.

However when every I try to type in the location search, I get the following notification. If I click OK, it goes away but the next time I try it comes back up again. I am able to enter an address, and the map zooms in to the appropriate location, so it does seem to be working, I am just not sure why this is coming up.

This happens when assigning a location to an entry or when I am doing a search by location.

This only happens in Web Client, I have not seen a similar message in the mobile app.

Regard,
Travis

I have not personally seen this.  Is this something you have always seen in IE or something that has recently started happening? What Web Client Version?

Good afternoon Tricia, thanks for taking a moment to reply:

I have been using this in Chrome, and no, this is the first time I have ever seen this message, though this is also the first time I have ever had this feature as well.

I did just try this in IE and I do get the same behavior.

Web Client version is 10.4.0.309

Regards,

Travis

Travis, I have tried this on several systems and browsers and have not been able to reproduce the issue you are seeing.
Some more questions:
1. Are you using an https URL?
2. Were you initially prompted to provide location information?
-If so did you say Yes or No?

Good Morning Tricia,

1. I am not using https, I have also noticed on a site unrelated to Laserfiche that was also not using https that I saw the same message, I am starting to think that is the issue.

2. I was prompted and tested on two machines, one I said yes, one I said no, and both resulted in the same behavior.

In light of seeing this on an unrelated site, I am leaning towards this being a result of not having https setup. Note: This does not affect functionality, so its more of just an annoyance.

Regards,

Travis

Yes, using Locations does not require https but some Location features are deprecated, when using http and not https, such as 'my location'.
