Robotic process automation- chrome not configured correctly

asked on February 11, 2019 Show version history

Followed instructions to setup RPA within chrome. Once I start recording I recived a message stating "chrome is not configured correctly.  Do you want to view instructions to configure chrome?"

Setup Step #5 settings from Using laserfiche RPA with Google Chrome:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --remote-debugging-port=9222

Running on WIN10 computer. Chorme Version 72.0.3626.96

What am i missing?

I had the same error, I am on Windows7.

I "allowed programs to communicate through Windows Firewall" in the Firewall settings for the application chrome, and opened all ports.

It worked and I did not receive this error anymore.

Yes,  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --remote-debugging-port=9222

I've tried both locations. I've opened it from the desktop shortcut, cmd, and taskbar. Same results.

I believe you've done all of the steps then. The team will check if there is a compatibility issue with that specific version, but just in case...

  • try checking one more time that the shortcut and taskbar both have --remote-debugging-port=9222 as well
  • close the Recorder/Localtools windows if they are still open
  • if you had the RPA Designer open in Chrome, try closing that Chrome window as well

Hi Alan. Is this location ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe") also where you are opening Chrome from? For example, if you have a shortcut to Chrome on your desktop, the setup needs to be done for that shortcut as well.

Hi Alan,

If we need to, I can maybe jump on a call next week to see if we can debug at all. First though, can you try and see if fully restarting Chrome and the service makes it work? This means Chrome is not pinned anywhere (desktop, start menu, taskbar), end anything related to Chrome that task manager says is running, and then hit restart on the RPA service.

Usually only following the restart steps in the documentation is enough, but there are the occasionally one-off situations where something unusual may be happening in the background.
