Weblink 10: Context hits not shown while searching for a text in single document

asked on February 2, 2019 Show version history

When we search for a word in Laserfiche weblink, and if the search results to a single document, then, context hits are not shown, instead it automatically opens up the document and also word being searched is not highlighted. If there are multiple documents in search results, then then the hits are being displayed.

We need to display hits and counts, even if the search results to a single document. How can it be done?

Hi Fatima,

This is controlled by a user setting [‏Search]‏OpenIfOneResult which defaults to true when not set. This setting tells WebLink to open the document in the document viewer when there is only one result. If you would like to disable this then within your client you can add the setting [‏Search]‏OpenIfOneResult to your weblink user and specify False as the value.

Thank you Cecilia. But the option is not working for me.

Hi Fatima, by not working do you mean that the doc view page is still being opened from your search results? One thing to note is the exact capitalization on the user setting is likely important. If you need additional help troubleshooting opening a support case is also an option.

yes .after adding the attribute mentioned, its the same. Search results opening the document directly. I have added the attribuite as '[‏Search]‏OpenIfOneResult' in the same case.

Hello Cecilia,

I am trying to find where you make this edit.  Is it in the WL 10.1 Designer?

Thanks,

Jeff Curtis

Hi Jeff, no this is a change you would make through your web client or windows administration console. You need admin rights in order to make this change. From web client you would get to this page by navigating to management > users > attributes, and editing the user attributes for your WebLink user. This link has more info about how to do this from the administration console if not using the web client:   https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/administration/#../Subsystems/Default/Content/A_Introduction%20Topics/Admin.htm?Highlight=user%20attributes .  You will need to sign out and in of WebLink in order to see the change.

Cecilia,

Do you know if Laserfiche has any plans to make this option available as a possible global setting, that could be set once and done or possibly as a user self-set option, if they wanted to, in the My Weblink Settings?

Thanks-Jeff Curtis
