Color PDFs

asked on February 1, 2019

Does anyone know of any settings that will import a color pdf, convert it to a tiff, and retain the color?

Hi Carol,

There are a couple different ways you can get your PDF files into the repository as a TIFF. You can use Snapshot to "print" the document directly into the repository as a TIFF, or you can import a PDF and generate pages to keep both the PDF document and the TIFF image in one file.

For both of these methods, you can change the color depth and file format settings in Laserfiche Snapshot to make sure those TIFFs are color documents.

Thanks for the reply. I did find the file types in Snapshot properties. When I chose TIFF LZW the Color depth options allowed me to choose color. What about drag and drop. Are there any settings that will retain the color and convert to TIFF?

Hi Carol,

When dragging and dropping, just make sure you have the option for "Generate Pages" enabled in the import dialog.

This will give you TIFF images that will be associated with your PDF.

Yes, that is correct; however, I need to preserve color in the pdf. The TIFF always changes to black & white.

Are your options defaulted to generate monochrome pages? You can check in your web client Options page, or in the Options dialog within the Windows client.
