Question

LF:Creator syntax different for LF Client and Web Client

asked on January 29, 2019

Hello,

We have a customer who is doing a search in the LF Client for documents created by a user, using the User option.   The search returns a correct amount of hits.

The LF Users are logging in with Windows accounts.

When the customer tries to do the search in the Web Client using the User under advanced option, the user they are testing with does not appear the same way and they get no results found when using this option with the Type option for Documents.

When I look at the Search Syntax, I see the following:

1. In the LF Client it shows as- {LF:Creator="correctdomain\alias format"}

2. In the Web Client it show as - {LF:Creator="domain\alias not correct format"}

If we plug in the Search Syntax we pulled from the LF Client and paste it into the Search Syntax in the Web Client, then we get the same results as the Thick Client.

Do the Thick Client and the Web Client pull Windows User Accounts differently?

Thanks for any advice,

Jeff Curtis

Hey Alex,

Any ideas or should I get a case opened with Laserfiche Support?

Ya, the behavior you've described is quite strange. Please do open up a case and we can try to dig into it deeper.

Hope you have a good one!

Hey, Jeff,

So in the web client search syntax, is it just the alias that is incorrect, or is the domain itself also incorrect? In the Advanced Search dialog in the web client, could you double check if you have your appropriate domain selected from the dropdown?

Hello Alex,

I do not see that option, just add trustee:

Thanks,

I see. If there's only 1 domain, then the dropdown is hidden, so my original hunch may not be applicable for your organization.

Could you clarify some things about the web client syntax: {LF:Creator="domain\alias not correct format"}

So the domain is correct, but the username is not? Did the particular username get changed recently? Is it specific to this one user, or are all Windows users malformed?

Hello Alex,

The Domain format changes in the customer's user view when they go to look them up in the Web Client

When they type the domain that is used with the alias in the Thick Client, the Web Client User selection box throws a note - No Matches found.

If they try to type the alias of the user it appends that alias with a different variation of a domain.

Thanks again for the help,

Jeff Curtis
