Workflow runs manually but not with an event based rule

I have created a workflow that moves a renames documents. If I run the workflow manually it works as desired. I created rules to automate the workflow. Any suggestions as to why?

Open the Worflow Administration Console, then go to Monitoring > Subscribers and double-click the subscriber name to view the Trace logs.

The trace will show you how the conditions were evaluated so you can see exactly which one(s) came back as false and caused it not to run.
