Question

WebLink Designer site and SSL

asked on January 25, 2019

We have a client that requires all Web Apps to use SSL.  We installed WebLink 10.1 and configured it in the Web designer without any issue.  But then we went in and set each site to require SSL.  WebLink continued to work as expected, but we had issues with the designer.

When we tried to use https://servername/Designer/  or https://localhost/Designer/  we were returned an error.  So we turned the requirement for SSL back off on the designer site.  We could then log into the designer only if we used http://localhost/Designer/  (using the server name failed).

So now the system is set for WebLink to require SSL but the designer is not and when we go to the Search Results tab, the preview is returning an error.

How can we access the Designer site using SSL and how do we change the preview to use SSL if the Connection page has the Use SSL checkbox checked?

Your SSL cert is most likely issued to the FQDN of the host, so you'll need to use that instead of "localhost" or just servername.  Does it work when you try that?

Thanks for the reply.
When I said servername/Designer/ we were trying to use the fully qualified domain name (like server.customer.com) and the Cert is a wildcard for *.customer.com.

Even without SSL checked as required, we can only get to the designer site using localhost.
