How can I prepare my laptop for the Empower conference so its easy to setup when I get there?

The biggest thing is to download and install the VM
One you have that done, you're pretty much ready to go, but if you want help configuring it there, make sure you at least download it ahead of time because it is a big file.
UPDATE: I removed the links because I failed to notice they were from last year 
Actually, it is important to make sure you download it before you get to the conference because unlike past years, flash drives with the VM will not be available at Empower this year, so you would have download it over your hotel or the conference wifi, which I'm sure would finish around the time the conference does.

Those download links are for the 2018 Empower VM. We're still wrapping up some final changes for this year's conference, so you can expect to see a new VM posted on Answers and the Support Site shortly. The VM changes from year to year with new content and software.
As Blake mentioned, you will want to download the file before you leave for Empower. We'll be including configuration instructions online, but you can also stop by the Info Center if you've gotten the file already and just need some help getting things set up.
