Question

workflow open form in browser

asked on January 4, 2019

I've seen several posts about how to start a form process with workflow - either by using invoke business process (which submits the form and assigns a task to someone to take action on) or by sending an email to someone with a custom url. But is there a way to create the custom url and have the workflow open it in a browser without submitting the form?

What I'd like to be able to do is allow a user to start a business process from the Laserfiche Client that will take some of the values of the entry they're starting it from and pre-populate those values on the form, but still allow them to enter additional information onto the form before submitting it. Without adding secondary steps of opening a task or clicking on an email url.

Has anyone been able to accomplish this or should I start a feature request :)

It is not possible for server to control a user's machine and open up browsers, so that's a "no" for Workflow.

However, you should look into Laserfiche Connector, which is meant for automating interaction between user-facing applications with shortcut keys and custom buttons.

Hello,

You could consider using the Laserfiche Web Access, this will allow you to have a custom tab that can point to Laserfiche forms while passing the variables from the existing entry in WA to Forms.
Hope this help you.
Thanks.

Mahesh.
