Question

High ram usage with Forms

asked on December 27, 2018

My client is experiencing issues with their main Forms instance using a large amount of RAM on their server. Currently they have 3 forms instances running, with 2 on separate servers that connect to the main routing service. The ram usage can vary but when it peaks it ranges from 60% to 80% on all 3 servers most of the day which my client believes is excessive.

The main machine has a Xeon E5 2620 v3 CPU, and 8gb of RAM and all servers are running Forms 10.3.1.690.

IIS doesn't seem to be the culprit but we can't pinpoint where the excessive  RAM usage is coming from other than Forms. Even when we restart the servers or the forms services the RAM usage just shoots back up within seconds.

Has anyone else experienced RAM issues with the version of Forms? Thanks for any insight!

Also just to verify, if you had the initial release of Forms 10.3.1 installed, make sure you install Forms 10.3.1 update 1 first, THEN Forms 10.3.1 update 2.

This I did not know... I upgraded from 10.3.1.635.  That is Forms 10.3.1 update 1 right?

Yes, that is correct.

Do you have a process that might accidentally be looping or spiraling out of control? Check your active instances to see if anything looks out of place. I've seen this happen when an incidental loop caused the process to continually spawn new user tasks.

Sorry to crash the thread, hi Ricardo!  This sounds like my case.

This is a test environment with near zero utilization.  There are currently four suspended processes.  There is no active... activity.  That's what is so puzzling.

Supposedly forms 10.3.1 update 2 resolves the issue with suspended forms eating RAM... mais non.

If there is no activity, or if you can't narrow down what is causing the high memory usage, please open a support case so we can look more closely at your specific configuration and usage.
