Feature Request: Option to Remove Forms Account Signature

posted on December 19, 2018

Hello,

I'm sure this seems like a minor request, but I've found that is very important to some of our users that they be able to type/draw a new signature each time they sign a form.

For the sake of convenience, we set most of our forms to use the default account signature and encourage users to save one; this is preferred by many, but some are adamantly opposed to an "auto-sign" setup.

However, once a signature has been saved, there is no way to remove it meaning users who prefer typing a signature each time have no way back to that if they save an account signature.

What I would like to see is an option to remove, rather than just change, the signature so users are not locked in after they save a signature, without us forcing all users to type/draw each time.

Again, I realize seems minor, but it is actually a very important thing for many of our users. One user compared it to paying with a credit card and not being asked to sign. The users are authenticated, so it is not necessarily the same, but that is the perception we want to avoid.

Also to note for completeness, if you go to the signature field configuration settings, there is a setting at the bottom where you can set that field to prompt the user to type/draw their signature as opposed to using the default signature. This would help if certain forms should use default whereas others should prompt.

You should be able to do this currently. Go into the account page, open up the signature dialog and go to the Draw tab. If you draw something, click the x to remove it, then click Accept, it will clear out the signature from the account. After saving the account page with the blank signature, forms won't auto-populate that signature anymore.

A bit of a workaround, but it should work.

Gotcha, I must have missed a step earlier because I thought I tried that. Good to know there's a workaround, but I still think a dedicated feature/option would be preferable to make this easy on the users.
