We now have had records in our record series folders long enough to start records destruction. Here is what we are finding:
We would like to allow our staff to view records ready for destruction and approve some, not approve others. Some, they might decide they want to keep for another five years. In some cases, they might identify records that were wrongly placed into the folders for five years (for instance) when they really needed to be kept for ten years, or more. Unfortunately, in order to do this, I would have to un-cutoff some folders, remove the ones that need to be kept for a few more years, then cuttoff the folder again and then complete the destruction steps on the folder. Right?
Is there any other way?
If not, do you see this as a problem? As in, definitely not recommended because... ?
Thanks for any insights you can pass along my way.
