Question

Is there a way of searching for "ocr'd pages"?

asked on December 4, 2018

I need to OCR a large number of documents and I want to put together lists / numbers in the various locations first. Is there a way of doing an advanced search that returns the entry in the "OCR'd Pages" column (i.e. none, blank or all)?

I've tried various ways of doing this using the search text dialog box under advanced search but empty string "", not + wildcards etc. all return errors.

Do the PDFs you are looking have pages created? If not you can search for documents without pages and with no text. the search below will get all documents without pages and with no text.

({LF:pagecount = "0"} & ({LF:associatedpages = "Y"} & {LF:OCR = none}))

EDIT: Below will get the above plus any that just do not have OCR

({LF:pagecount = "0"} & ({LF:associatedpages = "Y"} & {LF:OCR = none})) | {LF:OCR=none}

I've just found another similar question and the answer there was:

 {LF:OCR=none}

This partially helps, but I'm looking for mostly pdf documents which haven't got searchable text and this doesn't return those (they are blank under the OCR'd Pages column).

As well as the above search,  as a follow-up question, is there an advanced search reference that lists all of the options? I did look in the help files but couldn't see this, or a full list. There was the syntax and wild card info but not a full references of the LF search terms that can be used.

Perfect, that's exactly what I need, thanks.

By the way, do you know if there's a resource where search options like those LF:pagecount, LF:associatedpages, etc., are listed / explained?

Edit: I'm still not sure I can quite get what I need from that - a list of documents that have no searchable text whether or not they have Laserfiche pages - but I'll play around with it to see if I can get that. Thanks again.

I don't know if there is a central place where all of the search syntax is located. I do know that there are a couple of resources if you search the Support site. https://support.laserfiche.com/search?q=search%20syntax
