timer on forms screen

Hi there,

I created a form for employee performance reviews. My users are spending a lot of time composing these reviews & loosing data when it times out. I upped my time out to 60 minutes & told everyone to save as draft often. However, they get side tracked with a phone call or whatever & then loose everything.

Has anyone ever put a timer at the top of a forms screen to let the user know how much time they have left & to remind them to save as draft?

Hi Mary,

This may be another option you could consider.

Raul Gonzalez posted a bit of javascript that prompts for and autosaves a draft after X minutes of inactivity.

We have been using this successfully. The post is here
