WINCODEC ERROR

asked on November 5, 2018 Show version history

Hi,

We migrated a Laserfiche 9.0 installation to  a new server and also upgraded it to version 10.2. We are currently experiencing a problem where some documents are not displaying. They are displaying a WinCodec error as shown in the attached images. This error is affecting only one logical volume and when you generate pages on these problematic documents, the image is displayed. It is a bit cumbersome to open each and every document in a whole volume to check which one has a problem in order to generate pages. In addition, the same documents in the old installation are opening just fine. Anyone with a solution to this issue?

Can you open the file on the machine independent of LF? Say with Acrobat?

To clarify, these are PDFs that have already had their pages extracted and re-extracting them seems to make the problem go away?  The first error code is about Web Access trying to show you an image page, so it thinks they exist.  The temp file referenced in the error should be a png, can you check that it's in that location and that it is viewable as an image (if you make a copy with the png extension)?  I wonder if WA is having a problem getting the image data, and that's the underlying cause of the codec error (since it can't tell what codec to use).

Dear Brian,

Just to add onto the above, I have checked form the storage area (path) in the Disk, and seems the image is missing. How that happened, I do not know. Now I have to search for each document that is displaying this error in order to regenerate the image. In that case is there a way that I can search for these documents from the repository. Note that the "Page Count" column shows that there are pages whereas there are no pages.
