Question

Test Repository

asked on November 2, 2018

We need to create a new repository for testing.  We are quite new to the system so i need a few answers.  When creating the new repository, do we add this to the existing Laserfiche database?   Our system is not large, we have the RIO system with 25 users, non too active, and are just getting into workflows and forms.  Our database is MS Sql and we have two production databases on that server.  The sql server has capacity for the additional minor workload.

Thanks for any help.

Each Laserfiche database contains many tables. You would make a new database corresponding to the new test repository, but it can be on the same (or a different, if desired) SQL instance.

You would create a new repository with its own database. You can have multiple Laserfiche database on the same SQL instance, or you can put the test database on its own instance. If you are using directly assigned repository users you would need to allocate a couple named user licenses to the new repository, but if you are using LFDS directory or domain users (that is, users defined in the directory server or windows account users), the same license allocation will apply to all repositories in the system.

So in the same database instance, there will be a table for my existing repository and a new table for my new repository?  Am i understanding that correctly?
