Question

Merge Rio/LFDS

asked on October 22, 2018

Hi All,

We have a customer who is looking at merging 2 Rio systems into one as part of a company merge.

Migrating the license on the support site with Laserfiche is the easy part, and I am happy to accept that we'll probably have to re-generate all the application licenses.

However is there an easy way to merge the users?

Can I simply import the users in the dbo.user_logins into the merged and re-licensed LFDS database? I don't want to have to manually enter ~500 users from another LFDS into the new master LFDS.

Any ideas? Cheers!

According to the Rio Deployment Guide, you can import Global Laserfiche Users using a CSV file.  Of course if you have groups setup in the old LFDS I don't think they'd be created in your merged system.

Thanks Craig,

I had thought about this, and also about using the Sync functionality to try and get the users in that way. However AD isn't tidy enough to use that method in this case.

I guess what I could do, is simply export the users from the source system as a CSV. Then just import them into the new system. I think I'm making this way more complicated than it needs to be! Thanks Craig!

Just an FYI on this, you cannot export AD users and upload as a CSV. Only Laserfiche accounts are supported for CSV upload.
