Request for a Formal Statement from Laserfiche - Do not schedule regular reboots of SQL or Laserfiche servers

posted on October 19, 2018 Show version history

Hi everyone,

I remember seeing a post on the old forum or in Answers, where a LF person challenged a VAR and stated something like "LF recommends against regularly scheduled reboots of Laserfiche and/or SQL servers"

A customer has asked for a formal statement from LF. I've been unable to find that post. Could a Laserfiche staff member please reply with either a formal recommendation or statement that Laserfiche doesn't provide formal recomendations please?

Thanks!

Edit: I always recommend against regular reboots. If a server needs to be rebooted regularly, I would address the cause of that issue, of course.

Hm, I don't remember that thread on the old forums, but my memory isn't what it used to be.

Regular reboots are not necessary for our products. If regular reboots are put in place to deal with something like a memory leak, we'd rather hear about the problem so we can investigate it and patch it.
