Looking for anyone with some thoughts or ideas.  I want to be able to trigger a workflow from the act of a file being downloaded.

Case Use: We have contracted service providers that have access to our network.  To replace making and sending paper copies of files (some 400+ pages) through the mail, we want to scan them into LF, have the file stored normally but now add putting a shortcut in a folder for the service providers, and send an email to the providers that they have files to download.  What I am looking for is a way to trigger a workflow that will delete the shortcut once they open the file and download it.  Reason behind this is to keep the list of files short without requiring them to manually delete the shortcuts.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
