Question

Laserfiche adaptive bit-rate streaming or similar

asked on October 8, 2018

Hi there,

I'm working on a tender response where we are proposing Laserfiche as an ECM solution and need some help  answering the following question please:

Detail how the proposed solution (Laserfiche), utilises adaptive bit-rate streaming or similar, in order to deliver ECM services and content, to staff that might be located in regional and remote locations with the following connection types:

  • 3G and 4G (cellular connection)
  • ADSL and ADSL2+
  • Hybrid Fibre Cable (HFC)
  • Fibre-to-the-node
  • Fibre-to-the-curb
  • Fibre-to-the-premises

Any feedback that can be provided on the above will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Tim

In general Laserfiche doesn't perform any modifications to content stored in the repository, it is delivered to the client as-is.  The big exception is resizing image pages, but the term "adaptive bit-rate" usually refers to audio or video.

Hi Brian, thanks for the feedback. The customer in question is looking to store multimedia content such as video and audio along with documents and images in the Repository, hence the question - but thanks again!

As a suggestion, it might be easiest to set up streaming as a separate server and then replicate the files from Laserfiche to that server.
