Question

Empower 2019 Lab VM

asked on October 8, 2018

Is there an estimated time when the Virtual Machine for Empower 2019 will be available? I have a large group of users attending and would like to get them setup before too long.

Thank you,

David

Hi David,

We usually release the Empower VM a few weeks before conference since it contains material specific to each lab as well as currently unreleased software!

You can expect to see the VM posted on the Laserfiche Support Site (with announcements on Answers) about a month ahead of conference. This year, we will be aiming to publish the VM before the week of January 21st, 2019 so you will have time to get it setup.

Is there a login available for the VM so that we can play around with it prior to Empower?

Hi Michael,

The VM should auto-log you into Windows. Once you're in there, you can view a list of the general logins on the Splash page by opening up Chrome, and select the menu in the top right corner:

Select "VM Details" from the menu and you should see some credentials. Keep in mind that your VM may be in "persistent" mode, so if you don't want your changes to be kept, make sure to switch to nonpersistent, as explained in the VM configuration guide!

Hi Anita,

Thank you. I reset the VM and was able to access it as you described. My initial issue was that I'd adjusted the screen resolution of the VMware player. After which it presented me with a locked workstation.

Thanks,

Michael

Does anyone have a recommendation for a working download manager that works for this download location? I can't seem to keep the download from failing partway through and even with a download manager i cannot seem to find a way to resume the download successfully. The remote server seems to want to just restart from scratch. Any working Download Managers you can point me to that will actually resume a download from the Laserfiche support site? (I've been trying Chrono Download Manager in Chrome so far).

NOTE: Yes, I do log back into support site before trying to resume the download.

Have you tried different browsers or computers?

I did mine in Chrome and worked just fine...

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I can confirm this is not computer or browser specific. We have a wireless ISP so can't always count on a very large download being completely uninterrupted for 8-10 hours. Most download sources support resuming interrupted downloads but Laserfiche's host apparently does not. I was just curious if anyone had found some workaround. If not, I'll sort it out at the conference.

Did you select 'i moved it' or 'i copied it' when you first opened the VM. If you selected 'i copied it', you can run into an issue like this.
