Question

Upgrading 10.2.1 to 10.3

asked on October 5, 2018

Hello,

We are fairly new Laserfiche users, so please bear with me :)

Laserfiche implemented version 10.2.1 but there are features in 10.3 (more specifically in LFDS) that we would like to leverage from. I have a few questions:

- When it comes to upgrading LFDS, is going from 10.2.1 to 10.3 straighforward? - does it carry over settings or is reconfiguration needed?

- Do all versions of the Laserfiche suite need to match? - for example, can Laserfiche 10.2 work with LFDS 10.3?

- Are there any tricks/tips/gotchas notable in general for the Laserfiche suite when it comes to going to 10.3 from 10.2.1?

Bonus question:

- The feature we are looking for from 10.3 is the ability to use SAML authentication (we want our Forms users to have a familiar login page rather than Laserfiche's default). How complex is this to setup? - any tips/gotchas/info will be much appreciated.

When it comes to upgrading LFDS, is going from 10.2.1 to 10.3 straighforward? - does it carry over settings or is reconfiguration needed?

- If this is purely a software upgrade, it should be straight forward. I recommend you to read this PowerPoint that talks about how you should plan your upgrade. You should also backup any relevant files before performing any upgrade.

Do all versions of the Laserfiche suite need to match? - for example, can Laserfiche 10.2 work with LFDS 10.3?

- They don't need to match. You can take advantage of backwards compatibility. Generally, you want your LFS or LFDS to be higher (or same) version as the other products. For example, if you have LFDS10.3, it should work with Workflow 10.2.

Hi Juan,

One thing you need to know as well is that all the DB schemas will need to be updated during the upgrade. Laserfiche will do this but I would recommend a backup (Databases) before doing any upgrade.

You will need to run the Workflow Configuration, LFDS, Forms Configuration and any other module to make sure the Databases and configurations are all good to go,

With thanks
