Parent ID filter in Audit Trail

asked on October 5, 2018 Show version history

Can anyone tell me if the parent ID filter is supposed to work with the View Content selections in Audit Trail?  I can check all of the View Content selections and use entry ID as the filter and it shows that I looked at the file twice this morning.  Put as soon as I switch to the parent ID entry and put in the parent folder ID, it shows me that there are no results.

Or am I trying to use it wrong?  My thought was that putting in a parent ID would look at all documents under that ID and tell me if any of them have been viewed.

The good news is that you can do something very similar.

Of the three event types you have selected there, only Browse Entry records parent entry information.  Because Audit Trail has no particular knowledge of the repository structure, if an event does not itself record parent entry details, Audit Trail doesn't have any way of filtering based on it.  Thus, you cannot usefully filter View Document events by Parent ID.

However, View Document does record the full path of the document being viewed, so you can get similar results by filtering on Full Paths like the parent folder's path.
