Question

Permissions to move

asked on September 27, 2018

My client is wanting to allow a user to scan in documents to their own personal folder. Once they have entered the information needed on the document the user will then drag and drop this into another folder belonging to a higher up employee.

This higher up employee has their folder setup to allow users to copy documents into it but not see the documents in the folder. The effective rights on this folder for the scanner user is to be able to read, browse, and create documents.

The effective rights on the originating folder where the documents are scanned to, the scanning user has full effective permissions to create, modify, and delete.

Despite this, when they drag and drop to the higher-up's folder, they get an access denied[9013] message but the file is still transferred successfully.

We can't seem to narrow down which permission is needed to allow the user to move a document from their folder(which they have full permissions to), to another folder which they have effective permissions to read, browse, and create documents without getting the Access Denied[9013] error.

Thanks for any insight!

Hi Ricardo,

Would it not be a better option, instead of the user dragging the file in, to have Workflow do that for you instead?

I would be looking at a Template field on the document, that when changed by the original user, it would then move it for them automatically once the file is closed?

What are your thoughts on that?

With thanks

Ziad

Thanks! A workflow was the route they ended up taking.
