Question

WebLink Display Options

asked on September 27, 2018

So I have run into an interesting situation with the WebLink document viewer and am hoping there's a setting or parameter I can use.

We have documents that are stored with both TIFF pages and PDF electronic documents; the original high-quality images, and a compressed PDF.

When I open these documents in WebLink, it defaults to displaying the document pages and so far I've only been able to have it open the PDF by removing the pages.

Is there a way to make WebLink open Electronic Files rather than the pages for documents that have both components? I'm open to making customizations if necessary.

(We are using WebLink 10.1.0.151)

Did you ever come up with a solution to this problem?

Unfortunately not. I ended up just removing pages for the ones I wanted to have open in PDF format since these particularly documents aren't used for much.

I know this is an old issue - but it still exists lol.

I just wanted to share a bit of a workaround for now - I renamed the DocView9.aspx file in the WebFiles folder on our weblink server and over-wrote the DocView.aspx file with it.  The viewer goes back to the version 9 one which still shows the pages view but at least when you click the Download button, you get the original PDF rather than a newly generated PDF from the pages.

It's not perfect but it's better than nothing considering LF shows no interest in fixing this.
