Question

Passing Authentication to LF Mobile App or Web Client through Custom App

asked on September 26, 2018

Hi, we have a request from a customer to integrate Laserfiche Mobile App or Web Client with a custom authentication service call 'AAS' which they develop themselves in-house.

Their authentication service authenticates against their AD and pass back the username, encrypted password and timestamp back to the calling application, this custom authentication service has a front-end (mobile app) which all their users has to access and login through in order launch all their other groups of applications, they would like to include Laserfiche mobile app or Web Client as part of this group of application as well. Does anyone has any idea or suggestion on how we can go about integrating Laserfiche with their custom app in order to pass the authentication to Laserfiche?

Many thanks.

Web Client supports using a "LoginModule", which allows you to inject some code into the login flow.  Your code would be given access to the request data and would need to return the credentials to use.  It's not clear from your description if that would work or not, I guess the app could open a browser with encrypted credentials added to the url?

It seems the most likely way to achieve this is through the LoginModule with Web Client. I will have a look into it, thanks for your advice.

The Mobile app doesn't currently support custom SSO, but I will add this to our backlog for future consideration in development. Thank you!
