.msg file will not import into Laserfiche

posted on September 9, 2018

Trying to import a .msg file into Laserfiche, this is an Outlook file type. When I import it displays the below message, I select No, it appears to finish, but the file is not there.

I found a workaround. It seems to be a requirement only for Laserfiche client version 10.3. I found another post asking something about an MAPI feature and a response that it was added to version 10.3. So I uninstalled 10.3 and installed 10.2, no more MAPI errors and the files are showing up after import. In fact the whole import doesn't need to be baby sat any longer, now I can just let it run. I spent 2 days baby sitting in 10.3

Can you provide the version of windows you are using, as well as the Office version? also, is office x86 or x64 (if you don't know it's probably x86).

Windows 2016 Server. I was not using Office for anything, I thought maybe having the office options installed as part of the client might have been the issue, so I removed them, but the issue persisted.

I was just doing an import, nothing else. Not trying to open documents or use any features, this was just a simple import of data.

I can reproduce this problem, it is a bug in the 10.3 client. We will look into fixing it in 10.4 (bug# 110923). In the meantime the workaround is to use the 10.2 client or install MS Outlook on the client machine.

Ok thanks, 10.2 imported in no time. I was wondering why it was prompting me so often and stopping the import, normally when I check the box to do the same for all entries I only get a few random prompts that stop the import and just have to check on it from time to time.

It would be a nice if there was a way to import unattended, I guess having Import Agent is the only way right now since it can just route any failures to the IAError folder and continue on.
