Question

Why would anyone purchase Forms Identification for Quick Fields?

asked on August 29, 2018

I have been using Quick Fields for a while now and I'm having a hard time understanding what Forms Identification would give me that I cannot accomplish with a simple first page identification condition. Please explain to me what makes forms identification worth the extra money over what I can do with First Page Identification. Thank you.

First page identification allows you to automatically detect the first page of a new document and split the image into separate documents.

Forms Identification identifies with a specific form full of check boxes and selections that are done on paper. Like a test for example. It can then determine which boxes are checked, marked, etc.

Thanks Chad. I see that it would be a more specific use case. I guess since I usually can accomplish identify documents with FPI I forgot about the other features that come with the Forms Processing Add-on.

Form Identification can simplify session design and provide successful identification in certain cases where other methods don't work. It can often be easier to identify documents with Form Identification than it is to configure specific identification conditions using the text or other tokens.

Form Identification can be particularly useful for cases where documents have a pretty consistent layout, yet they produce inconsistent OCR results for which it may be tricky to write reliable identification conditions based on the text alone.
