Version Comments Don't Match Actions

asked on August 29, 2018

Hi All,

I've created a new word document and then saved this to Laserfiche. I've then opened the word document made a sentance in this document bold, then saved the document as a new version. Comparing the changes between the 2 documents shows:-

There were no pages added or deleted, so do we know why the compare feature is displaying this?

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

The 'pages' are marked as updated presumably because text was extracted when the changed document was saved back into the repository and so the text pages were, in fact, updated. This ensures that text search remains correct. The 'changed' link for electronic document will show the actual specific changes made.

Thanks Justin,

I thought this would likely be the case, and makes sense to me, having said that, can this be changed?

As you can probably appreciate for a user, it stating '1 page added, 1 page deleted' when in fact it hasn't it's just the page generation, can be very confusing for a user.

Cheers!

Hi,

quick follow-up question: why isn't a "text change" recorded in the overview? If LF records the page change to ensure that text search remain possible, it should also record that there was in fact a change in the document's text.

Thanks in advance,
Sara
