Word and Excel documents slow to open directly from Laserfiche

Hello,

We're working with a user that is experiencing slowness when opening Word and Excel documents in Laserfiche.
When opening these documents directly from Laserfiche, it often takes 15-20 seconds to open and the documents are only around 50KB.

We can drag and drop the documents to the desktop from Laserfiche and it's pretty instantaneous.
Once the document is on the desktop, it opens much quicker in Word or Excel. This was tested with Office 2010 and 2016.

We also tried opening the same document directly from Laserfiche with Apache OpenOffice and it was significantly faster as well.

Do you know of any settings that can be adjusted to increase the speed at which these documents open directly from Laserfiche?

The Office Plugin in Laserfiche 10.4 includes several fixes that increase the performance of opening documents. I'd suggest installing 10.4 in a test environment to see how this impacts performance in your environment.

Is there a document with the patch notes and changes for the 10.4 Office Integration?

We are currently running 10.3.1.505 and have a number of issues that I'd like to see if they were addressed.

Is this just one user, or does this happen to muliple users? What happens if you try the issue from a different machine, do you see the same issue? If you open documents directly on the server of LF do you see any speed issues? Is this the web client or windows client, do you see different things in both?

 

To my knowledge there isn't any setting in Laserfiche which would impact the speed at which the document opens from Laserfiche, I would think this would be more infrastructure related.

 

I would open a support case to troubleshoot this further.

Did you ever find a resolution to this?  We have one user that is having this issue.  They have office 2016 and they were on LF 10.1 and I upgraded them to 10.3 to because I thought I had seen a few things on the office integration having changes in 10.3 but no luck.  I also did an uninstall and reinstall to see if the process would make any difference and no change.   We are running the full client not the web client.

We recently upgraded to LF v10.3.1 and a few users (not all) are experiencing the same Office Plugin issue (running Office 2016).  Since we upgraded only one month ago, we do not want to upgrade to 10.4 right now.  Will the 10.4 Office Plugin work with a 10.3.1 LF Client/Web Client, Server?
