Question

Is there any way to use a token for "today" in advanced search syntax?

asked on July 30, 2018

In workflow referring to %(Date) is easy. It's the same for a default date in a date field. However, I want a search that refers to "today" so I can save it and reuse for reporting. I don't need to do date calculator functions, just refer to anything before "today" in a search.

I had a similar situation where I wanted to search for recently created documents.

I was able to do this by creating a Tag called "Recent" and a workflow that added the "Recent" tag. I created another workflow that takes the tag off after the creation date is more than a month old.

Hi Jeremy, have you seen this post - it is trying to accomplish a similar thing. https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/110398/Search-date-field-by-Today-or-Now-for-use-in-shortcuts#110406

Hi yes I did read that one. I thought the question was specific enough about desktop shortcuts that there was perhaps another angle to discover. My requirement is simpler, since I don't require special shortcuts created.

I had thought it would be some no brainer thing since a date token I so utterly ubiquitous everywhere else plus basing a search on today's date seems like something people would have wanted to do since Laserfiche 1.0.
