Reset button in search pane - Feature Request

asked on July 27, 2018

Hi All,

I was sure this had been raised before but can't seem to find it now (maybe it was on the old forums).

Would it be possible to alter the behaviour of the reset button in the search pane?

It would be nice if you could make this default to a template view or a custom configured search, as currently it just defaults to common search and within folder, which not a single one of our customers use. They all search by template.

Cheers!

I'd second this request. Users expect that hitting "Reset" would clear the current search options, not bring up the common and within folder search options.

Hi Chris and Nigel,

Do your users use the quick search functionality in the folder browser or just always go right to advanced search? Currently the idea is to pre-populate with the search blocks so people can do basic searches without having to find them under the picker, and I believe the web client also includes Templates as one of those defaults. Note that the presence of one of these blocks won't impact the search query if they do not contain any values, although I can also understand users not wanting to see them in the first place.

Hi Justin,

Firstly we are talking about the thick client here, we only have 1 customer using the web client (and they are not having a good time with it).

All of our customers mainly use the template/field search in the thick client. It's very rare we see anyone venturing outside this (other than to text search where they typically use the quick search in the top right, with only text selected).

In a nutshell, it would be nice if we could pre-configure what hitting the reset button does basically.

Cheers!
