Question

Repository References From Laserfiche Applications

asked on July 25, 2018

I have a situation where I need to un-register a repository database, bring over a database and re-register the repository again. If I were to do that, will it break the connections from Web Access, WebLink, Workflow, Forms, Audit Trail, etc? From what I've seen the connections are made based on the server and repository name, so I assume it would not break anything. Is that correct?

I do understand that any settings would need to be reset and any documents that were changed or added would need to be brought back in. I just need to make sure that it will not break anything else.

When you say "bring over a database", what exactly does that mean? Workflow identifies repositories by UUID, so it won't just pick up the repository if you register a different one with the same name. Similarly, it keeps track of the last event it read and processed, so if you replace it with a database with a lower/higher ID, interesting things could happen...

That is really good to know. Thank you for sharing that information.

In general, applications refer to repositories by their name and host so no change on the client side is required.  Internally, we frequently revert VM snapshots that host repositories without any problems with other applications re-connecting.
