Laserfiche Deployment

asked on July 25, 2018 Show version history

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with regards to deploying a Laserfiche environment to multiple sites (yachts)

I have a development server that has a forms server (50+forms), workflow server and repositories. This development is specifically for yachts and allows them to submit forms back to base for approval.

I have tried copying the Laserfiche forms and workflow databases from my development onto the yacht but the process isn't as simple as that. When I copy my forms database to the yacht I find I have to go through each form and firstly reconnect the connection profiles and then I have to go through each form and reconstruct the Lookups as they seem to dissappear. When you have 50+ forms this becomes an extremely lengthy process.

When I copied my workflow database I had to go through each workflow and change connection profiles, query profiles and reconnect the forms business variables. Then I started to get a few errors so I ended up importing the workflows manually.

I'm trying to find a way to streamline this process as most of the time it has to be deployed remotely and the data lag of the remote connection and the number of modifications required per form makes it a lengthy process.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

I believe the various product teams are working on ways to streamline the process. For the current best practices, see this white paper. Unfortunately it is true that much still has to be done manually.

For Forms lookup rules in particular, in Forms 10.3.1, invalid lookup rules will be marked as disabled when you import a process with them. That way the rule won't just disappear if it's imported to a server that cannot immediately validate it. You can enable it after you've configured the connection to the external database.

I can't download the education resource. It says ACCESS DENIED on the download button and I am logged in and can download installers and other related items.

Please advise.

Sorry for that. I've made it available to licensed end users. Hopefully it'll work when you try again.
