Question

Exporting a Tiff with Sticky notes & "creator" logs that change.

asked on July 10, 2018

When exporting a TIFF image, that has sticky note annotations, as PDF via the "Email Document" feature.

When this document is received and the user now imports it into his/her Laserfiche Folder, in the annotations pane the "creator" column details change from the specific users all to ADMIN.

Is there a way i can retain the original list of Annotation creators?

thanks in advance.

Michael,

I'm not sure why it would show everything as ADMIN unless they were logged in with the ADMIN account, but when you import a PDF, TIFF, etc., you are creating a new document.

As a result, the document, including any annotations, will be listed as created by the account responsible for creating the "new" document rather than original users.

The only way to preserve Laserfiche metadata is to create a Laserfiche Briefcase as these package up the document in its entirety and importing a briefcase will keep all the metadata intact.

Jason,

Thanks for the input, yeah i am aware of the fact that creating a new document will 'rewrite' some of the metadata aspects. However what i'm looking for is a way to retain that action history, without having to create a briefcase.
Anyway was just checking if anyone has encountered this and found a work around.
i have a few ideas i'll be playing around with, but we all know how difficult it is to introduce change smiley

Thanks again. yes
