Question

Importing a process in Forms doesn't keep the search rules

asked on July 3, 2018

Hi,

When I try to import a form from an XML file generated from a form created on another server, the search rules are not kept, even if the same Datasource exists on the two servers.

How can I keep the Search rules during the import or is there a way to import the search rules after the form has been imported and the datasource has been associated to this new form.

Thanks for your help

Hi Frederic,

One of the new features in Forms 10.3.1 is the ability to turn off lookup rules, in order to save incomplete lookup rules that do not validate successfully or retain lookup rules from an uploaded process. Imported rules will be turned off, allowing you to go into the process to update database and table names. For more information about this and other new features, please see KB1013930.

Are your data sources identical?  I found that I have to alter my XML file before importing to match the new data source.  Then all my rules stay.

For example, in my development environment, my SQL is on server X, with database name A, and user account 6.  In my test environment, my SQL is on server Y, with database name B, and user account 7

I export my form from Dev.  I open the XML file in Notepad.  I do a find and replace where I find X and replace with Y.  Then repeat finding A and replace with B, and find 6, replacing with 7.  Save the XML file.

I also find that I have to remember to refresh my data sources in Forms PRIOR to importing the form.

Hi Karina and Jennifer,

I have found another post with Jennifer's solution and it has worked fine. I keep in mind Karina's solution that could be useful in other cases.

Thanks to both of you
