Extract contents of Zip File when imported into Laserfiche Repository

asked on June 27, 2018 Show version history

Good morning esteemed Laserfiche Community,

Has any one attempted or successfully extracted the contents of a ZIP file upon import to Laserfiche, using Import Agent and WF?

We receive large loan documents packaged in ZIPs and would like to cut out the step of manually extracting them before uploading to LF.

You could have a WF that runs on a schedule and in the WF have a Script activity that extracts the Zip file and places them into an Import Agent monitored folder or directly imports into the repository through the script activity.

There are several ways to do it with Task Scheduler on Windows server too. Have the zip files dropped in Folder A. Then a scheduled task will run a powershell script or unzip program with command line parameters to drop the contents of the zip file into Folder B.

There are command line versions of all the big compression software tools. You can get one for free (called Console version) here: https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Then let folder B be monitored by Import Agent.

Then you're not on the hook to program and support a custom script that's going to be less reliable than solutions already available.
