Workflow - How was a single workflow history removed from the workflow logs

I had a situation where a workflow terminated and I was unable to see the reason due to the history for that specific entry being removed from the logs. How can a single workflow instance history be removed from the logs?

Here are logs of the workflow running on other entries in the same timeframe.

But for the entry I am looking for, which started at 9:06am it is not listed. Proof that is started at that time is available in the business process details

 

 

Also in the audit history

There is literally no record ONLY for this one entry, even in the database:

What are you logging settings like? Since those others are still running, they will always be available. However, it is possible the time until the completed instances are removed was lowered from defaults(30 days).

That was it! Since the workflow threw an error, it was considered complete, and removed from the logs. That also removes the error message info though, I increased the lifetime back to 30 days. Thanks! I was baffled
