Question

Attach File to Form via Workflow

asked on June 6, 2018

I have a client that has an accounts payable process that users LF Forms to submit the expense for approval.  The accounting department starts the process and attaches the invoice to the form so it can be sent to the appropriate person for approval.  On occasion, the invoice is not sent to accounting; but to one of the branch offices.  In that instance, they would like the branch office to scan the invoice to a network share that will then be picked up and placed in a folder in LF.  Here is what they would like to have happen:

  • Invoice scanned to a network folder
  • File imported to LF to a starting folder
  • Workflow sees the file and starts a business process to send the form to accounting first.
    • Form is attached to the business process as if it were uploaded
  • Forms process continues as it does today with no issues.

The bold step above is the part that I am not sure is possible.  I know it is possible to have workflow start a Forms process, but in the variables it is passing is it possible to attach the document or even just a link to the document in the upload portion of the form?

Not sure this is exactly what you need but there is a post on using WF to attach a document to a form.
