Setting up DMZ Environment for Laserfiche Applications

posted on June 5, 2018

Hi,

I have seen a few posts regarding setting up a DMZ environment, mainly for Forms. I have a client who is looking at doing this, but for all their Web Facing Applications such as the following:

  • Laserfiche Forms
  • Laserfiche Weblink
  • Laserfiche Forms Portal
  • Laserfiche Mobile
  • Laserfiche Web Client

I have seen this article https://support.laserfiche.com/resources/3481/hosting-laserfiche-forms-10-in-a-perimeter-network-dmz which is great. Want to know if there's more such articles to assist with the other applications as well?

Regards,

Forms is unique because it is the only application in that list that does any actual data processing or document handling outside of the repository. Following that documentation will allow you to have the public interfacing side of the application on the DMZ while allowing you to keep the processing and potentially private information on the internal network.

The other applications strictly would need to be on the DMZ server with the required ports open to the internal network to allow communication to the LaserFiche Server.

The only other difficult piece can be Windows Authentication on the DMZ which involves setting up a domain in the DMZ and establishing a trust between the two, however this issue is not a LaserFiche specific setup and there is plenty of documentation regarding that setup on the web.
