Question

Forms cannot store emojis into LF metadata fields

asked on June 4, 2018 Show version history

It throws a "502 unexpected error" when a user enters an emoji into a Form field that is mapped to a repository metadata field.

Can this be fixed? This client's users love emojis (they fill out forms on their phones).

What version of Forms and Mobile are you using? On the latest versions of each, from an Android device, I do not receive an error when trying to submit a form with emojis in a single-line text field or store the field value to a metadata field in a Save to Repository task. I tried both with online and offline submissions.

The emojis themselves do not save, only any "normal" text entered in the field, so support for emojis would still be a separate feature request, but there does not seem to be any error on submission.

After some further investigation, it looks like the issue is not on the submission side, but on the retrieval side. Bug 91870 has been filed to make the save and retrieval behaviors consistent. However, there does not inherently appear to be any error thrown when attempting to save an emoji into a form field.
