PDFs Don't Appear in Preview Pane

asked on May 24, 2018

Some PDFs that were generated by a third party provider and saved in our repository don't appear in the Preview Pane of Web Access 10.2. My users have the Display Viewing options 'Open electronic file in document viewer' and 'Open PDF in document viewer (PDF viewer)' selected. They have not had luck selecting 'Open PDF in document viewer' either.

In addition, these PDFs print as blank pages directly from Web Access. However, they print properly after being downloaded and then opened outside of Laserfiche.

I'm open to suggestions regarding what to try next.

Were you able to find a solution to this issue?  We have just come across this today for the first time (currently on 10.2 and use Web Client only).  The PDFs that will not show in the Document Preview pane (or Viewer) are PDF/As, which shouldn't matter (other PDF/As show fine).  The documents are on the large size (50 mb) and I have allowed lots of time for the document to load into the Preview pane.  When we download the electronic copy into Adobe, the document shows fine.

Please let me know if you found out what is causing this.

Hi John,

What are your settings in Tools > Options > View > Open With?

I've had a similar problem a few years ago and it turned out to be something to do with Internet Explorer settings in addition to the Open With setting I mentioned. Can't remember what exactly we did to resolve it but let's make sure that your options look good first.

I believe that I mention the settings in my post and am not able to follow the path you suggested.

I encourage all of my users to open Web Access in Chrome since we seem to have the best luck with it. Many of us use Macs so IE isn't even an option.
