Forms Essentials configuration fails at User Authentication tab

asked on May 24, 2018

I’ve installed Laserfiche Forms Essentials (from Rio 10.3) successfully with no errors and am now setting the configuration using the Forms Configuration page.

All is OK, (setting up database, etc.) but the problem I’m stuck at is the User Authentication tab of Forms Config. I've set up a Laserfiche repository account with admin rights and with a strong password, but I get the error . . :

"Failed to register the Laserfiche repository: The password does not meet the minimum length requirement of the password policy. [9158] [LFF335-CannotRegisterLFRepo]"

.. even though I am using the Laserfiche Admin Console’s ‘generate password’ option. I even doubled the length of that (so 16 random characters) but I still got the same error. I’ve read the Admin Guide, and it says:

“The account must be a named user with the Manage Trustees privilege for the specified repository.”

…which I’ve checked and the LFForms account is both of these.

Any thoughts on how to get past this issue?

Is it possible that you need to set the licensing with the Laserfiche Directory Server? Not sure if that is required after 10.2 for forms users.

Also, have you tested by using a repository named user?

I have tested using a repository named user - I can log into LF Client with the account I'm using for Forms.

I'm using Laserfiche Server authentication - I haven't got any Laserfiche Directory Accounts set up (I just tried adding one, but got errors, I'll have to read up on how to do that). Is Laserfiche Server authentication not an option for Forms for Rio users?

Edit: we are using Licence Manager 8.3 - might that be the reason I can't add LF Directory Accounts?

I can't really help you too much on those questions, unfortunately. We use the Directory Server for convenience but I am told it is not necessary. I am surprised no one from Laserfiche has jumped into this conversation to clear things up. If I were you, the first thing I would do is confirm compatibility of the License Manager. Sounds like a general configuration issue you are having. If you haven't reached out to your VAR, yet do that as well. Your VAR can communicate with Laserfiche directly for support whereas for you and I , the closest we will get to talking to Laserfiche is here on Answers. yes

Thanks Chris - I'll discuss further with our VAR.

Hi,

I believe because it is one time setting no one is reporting it as a bug, but we had the same issue and get the same message and here is how to replicate it:

1) LaserFiche administration console: Have these password settings:

2) Install LaserFiche Forms 10.4.2

3) Create a named user with Manage Trustee previliage

4) User Authentication tab: You will get this error:

Failed to register the Laserfiche repository: Access denied. [9013] [LFF335-CannotRegisterLFRepo]

Variation 2 of the bug:

Give full permission and privilege for the named user or use admin user, now you will get this error instead:

Failed to register the Laserfiche repository: The password does not meet the minimum length requirement of the password policy. [9158] [LFF335-CannotRegisterLFRepo]

The noticeable that if you make the user unnamed you will get error that you must use a named user

The workaround:

Remove the password setting and all configuration page will give you no error

Bumping this post. I'm currently having this issue, and we're on Avante and using the correct password (we can log in to the client). Were you able to solve this issue?
