Question

Question

read only windows volume

asked on May 15, 2018

We are preparing to import legacy documents into Laserfiche.  Once the import is complete we are required to set the Windows volume that contains the Laserfiche volume to read only.  Is that going to cause problems for Laserfiche?

Thanks

That shouldn't be a problem if you also make the volume read-only in Laserfiche.

It is a strange requirement, but thanks for clarifying smiley

If the volume is read-write in Laserfiche, users are allowed to add documents or modify the existing ones. If the underlying disk is read-only, the Laserfiche Server wouldn't be able to service those requests properly. By making the Laserfiche volume read-only, you indicate to the Laserfiche Server that it should not allow modifications to it. Whether the disk housing said Laserfiche volume is read-only or not is irrelevant at that point.
