Web Client 10.3.1 Question/Confirmation?

posted on May 15, 2018

Hello all!  We have a client that has noticed this and when I test this out, it seems to be true...

Can Laserfiche verify this and consider the request if so?

[Customer] "Our users have noticed two issues with Outlook e-mail file types through the Web Client. When previewing e-mails, there is no way to know if there are attachments on the e-mails without downloading them and opening them through Outlook. The print option is also disabled on the preview window. The users must also download and open the e-mails externally to print. We realize there is probably not an immediate fix to these issues, but we would like them reported to Laserfiche as something to consider improving on future upgrades."

Thanks!

Jon

I think the idea about attachments is a good one and it shouldn't be too hard.  I made an item for it (#88857), though we're not planning our next release for a few months.

Printing without downloading might be trickier, but we can look into that too.  I'm thinking we could open a new browser tab to display the formatted HTML message and it would print from there.  Is that what you imagined?  And the idea is that it would cut a few steps out of downloading, opening in Outlook, and manually printing?  Or do you have another benefit in mind?

Hi Brian - We are getting the same request from users on Web Client - about seeing if there is an attachment to a message without having to download it. Is there a fix or update regarding this?

We are on:

Laserfiche Web Client 10.4 (10.4.0.309)

Laserfiche Repository Access 10.4.0.35

An enhanced printing option would be beneficial too. We want to use the repository for saved outlook messages - so all the enhancements for this the better!

Any update?

It's still in our feature backlog.  I'll let the PM know there's another user interested in it.

@████████ the South Dakota Office of the Attorney General has a need for this feature. We switched all of our users over from the Windows Client to Web Client over a year ago. In the Windows Client, users could seamlessly open up Outlook e-mail files from Laserfiche with one double-click. Now that is not the case with the Web Client. The Web Client e-mail preview only shows basic text and users have no idea if there are attachments on the e-mail unless they download the e-mail file. We have trained our users to just download all e-mails as a precaution. Not only is this an extra step and training for users, but it also fills up their downloads folder. One of the most common complaints we receive from users is that they have to download e-mails to see the attachments and additional information on the e-mail. We are hopeful Laserfiche will address these issues soon within the Web Client.

Thank You,

Zach Merrill
