Can someone explain My Tasks > Unassigned Tasks?

asked on May 12, 2018 Show version history

I'm having some trouble understanding exactly which tasks are displayed under My Tasks > Unassigned Tasks in the Forms Inbox:

The help files say:

My Tasks includes tasks assigned to you that have not been started, tasks assigned to you that are incomplete, tasks you can perform but not assigned to anyone on a team, and tasks you completed.

I assume the third item on this list describes "Unassigned Tasks". However, no actual examples are provided, which makes it difficult to fully grasp, at least for me. What are some "tasks you can perform but not assigned to anyone on a team"? When you assign a task to a specific user, it appears on their My Tasks > Assigned Tasks list. Does it also appear on other users' My Tasks > Unassigned Tasks?

Yes, #3 describes unassigned tasks. When a user task is assigned to a team or 1 out more people in the Process Designer, they will show up for the team members, or the individuals you have selected it to go to in the My Tasks-> Unassigned area. If you are a Team Manager, but not a team member, you have to go to Team Tasks-> Unassigned. Once the task is assigned to someone, it disappears from the My Tasks-> Unassigned area.

Ah, gotcha. That was the confusion for us. We assumed a Team Manager would also have the Team Member role implicitly (since they are quite literally a member of the team). But I guess that assumption was wrong. smiley

You can make a team manager a team member as well, but if they are only marked as a manager then that is where they will be to go.
