Best solution to import any attachment sent to a specific email address into Laserfiche?

asked on May 10, 2018

What is the best option for using an email address as a way to get documents into Laserfiche in the background? My entire goal here is to have a specific email address that, when an email with an attachment is sent to it, that attachment is imported into Laserfiche.

If it matters, this is a GSuite domain, and we do not have an exchange server.

I figure the easiest way is just using an email client monitoring the inbox, and saving the attachments somewhere that import agent is looking, but I'd rather have this running as a service on the server instead of requiring a specific user account being logged in with an email client running.

Import Agent 10.3 includes a new component called Laserfiche Email Archive, which is specifically designed to import emails/attachments.

Basically, it allows you to set up a lightweight SMTP server for the service and rules for importing anything sent to the address you configure.

I'm not sure how/if it would work with GSuite, but in Exchange and Office 365 you can configure rules to automatically route emails to the LF Email Archive domain address.
