Merging Report Fields

asked on May 3, 2018

Is it possible, in Forms 10.3, to merge similar fields together into a single column in a report? For example, we have two date fields. Currently, when I run a report, I have to have those two fields in separate columns on the report. Is it possible to merge them into one? If not, is there any news of this added functionality on the horizon?

Do some instances have one date field filled out and other instances have the other date field filled out? What would you put in the column if both fields were filled out on the same form?

Correct, and I probably should have identified that - some instances will have a "Week Ending Saturday" field show for employees that pertains to, and others will have a "Week Ending Friday" field show. The reason for the dual fields of the same data type (date selection) is that we have a different JavaScript code in place for both of them, which works great for the end user.

However, in reporting, it's a bit more cumbersome. All we need to know there is what the "WEEK ENDING" date is (Saturday or Friday calendar, it doesn't matter). Presently, I only see an option for doing this in two columns, but we require one column for the upload to our payroll processing program. So, it requires we run two reports, then manually merge the data from those two columns into the same one, prior to upload.

If this was the only case of such a merge issue, it wouldn't be one - I could create a separate, hidden field in the form that fills out with whichever of those two fields in shown regardless, then report on that date field. The problem there is, we have basically an entirely different form for the two types of employees we have, and therefore, I'd need to do that hidden field combination solution multiple times. It'd be much easier to just merge those columns in Reports, if that functionality is available (which, unfortunately, I don't think it is...)

Did you ever figure out a solution to this issue? I am experiencing a similar problem.
