Question

Is there a way to set a token to be default in a field of template?

asked on April 30, 2018 Show version history

Hi everyone!

When import new entry and template pop-up, we would like to set default which is not just a "constant value" to a field in template and we expect to set value of this field to relate to another field of another template.

Is this possible to do this in template properties pane on admin console without workflow coding?

We would like to gather email info with this field value at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated!

If you're trying to grab email specific information, the web client can parse email properties (like Sender, Subject, CC, etc) directly into fields of a template upon import.

In the Management page, go to the Integrations section under the Outlook Import tab. You can select a template and add field associations.

This will let you map the properties of the imported email to any of the fields in the template.

Cheers

On the right side of your screenshot, about half way down, there is the Add Token... button. Give that a try and see if it does what you need.

Hi Devin & Alex,

     Appreciate your help,

Our situation is about trying to set "a field from another template to be default at "a field of a template" and we couldn't find any user template fields in "Add Token.." . There are only system fields in there.

Could we do something to let this "Add Token.."  button display user fields?

Hmm, I see. Unfortunately there isn't currently a way to grab information from a different field in another template.  If we did have such a token, it's not really clear where the template would know where to pull the value from. There would have to be a lot more configuration involved.

In your specific case, what is the relationship between these two different entries? Does "Case/Process type" have to be two different fields in your two templates? Depending on the structure of your repository, you could maybe leverage the %Parent% token. You could have the "Case/Process type" field filled out in the case's folder. Then all other entries inside of the folder could pull the %Parent% value.

Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for your kind mention  about the %Parent% token. I have tried and realize that may be this is impossible case. Because we have to create entry into parent folder to get value from %Parent% token. So There is not a chance to know the value of the token at the popup template.

We need this value for filtering the second list.

Really appreciate your help anyway.
