Question

AS/400 IBM I series integration with Laserfiche

asked on April 26, 2018

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for some recommendations for a integration to a AS/400 IBM I series system. What I'm looking for is a way to send documents from the AS 400 directly into the Laserfiche repository.

Currently, we are e-mailing the AS/400 PDF to an Exchange account, stripping off the PDF and putting it into a folder.
We would rather remove the ‘middle man’ and go directly from the AS/400 to Laserfiche.
Ideally, I would love a print driver that we could have someone just hit print in the AS/400 and sent to Laserfiche like Snapshot. We tried using Snapshot and the print stream from AS400 is not compatible with Snapshot. Any input or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Lucas,

We've worked some with AS/400.  I see a couple of possible options here using Import Agent.

1) The new version of Import Agent can monitor exchange accounts and potentially automate what you are already doing (stripping off the attachment).  You would need the latest version of Import Agent to do this (10.3 maybe?).  I don't know if Import Agent can strip off the attachment  or not... I haven't set it up myself yet.

2) If you can print to a pdf in a location accessible by a windows share, Import Agent could retrieve the documents from that location and import directly into Laserfiche.

If you have a print feed out of the AS/400, we have been able to index information out of the print feed and then store the pages associated with the indexed information as a TIFF image.

I am trying to use import agent ver 10.4 to pull .pdf files stored in a folder on an AS400 share that if viewable by windows explorer on a Windows server.   During setup the Import agent configuration utility can see the folder,  but it refuses to pull the files.  I can copy the files to a windows folder on a windows machine and it works perfectly.   Is there something about the AS400 properties that keeps it from pulling those files?
